Content Asset Libraries

For centralised control and management of website content, Activedition features a Content Asset Library for all content types. Content assets can be used as and when required throughout the website. A centralised library approach ensures the consistency of the published website and helps to minimise the asset management overhead.  

The library system supports the online management of files, forms, images, multimedia, links, shared content (Sections) and dynamic content plug ins (Tags).

Content assets are easily uploaded to the online library through the Activedition file upload facility (no need for FTP routines). If replacement assets are required, for example if the organisation rebrands its logo, Activedition will replace all instances of the logo when the new file is uploaded and published.   A unique "Where Used" report lets content contributors easily track where a content asset is used.

Content management impacts more than just the content contributor. The end Site Visitor must be considered as one of the most important users supported by the CMS. Activedition provides the framework for a positive user experience in terms of both features and usability.

Site Search

A keyword and phrase search system with in built spell checker for 'did you mean' support is supplied as standard. As well as being an accessibility feature for users with dyslexia this is useful for day to day users who have trouble with their spelling. This is complemented with a keyword and phrase advertising system to promote content within the search results e.g. promoting a relevant product with a link to "buy now", based on a keyword. Other search options are also available including a concept based search and Metadata based filters / search of content.

e-Newsletter Subscription

Site visitors can sign up for and manage their subscriptions to one or more email newsletters. The availability and visibility of subscription options can be controlled via user group permissions on the mailing list.

Discussion Forums

Site visitors can contribute and share information through integrated discussion forums. The discussion forums can be moderated, allowing the site administrator control over the published newsgroup submissions. The newsgroup facility also supports anonymous postings and file attachments.

Secure Areas

Areas of the website can be set as secure to ensure that all content is password protected. Users will only be able to access the content with a valid user name and password. Examples would be a member's area or registered customer's area.

Multi-lingual Support

Activedition supports multi-lingual websites ensuring that organisations can deliver content specific to the nationality of the site visitor. Activedition has a proven track record of delivering in Japanese, Chinese and all major European languages.

Automated Breadcrumb Trail

An automatically generated Breadcrumb Trail allows site visitors to see where they are in the website. Support for automatic recursive link removal (linking back to the same page), ensure accessibility conformance is met.  

Menu Management

Activedition allows non-technical users to easily maintain the menu and sub-menu navigation structure.  This supports context sensitive menus which can assist website usability.

Site Map

Activedition automatically generates a Site Map, an A-Z Site Map.  Authorised users can indicate which pages or site areas should be included within the site map.
