Background

Stanley Gibbons are the world’s leading retailer of rare and collectable stamps. They contacted Star Digital to develop a digital commerce solution based on Magento with a full integration to NetSuite.

The project needed to be completed urgently. A team of developers from Star Digital flew out to the USA to take over the project and bring it back to the UK. End to end the project had an 8 week timeline.

Post launch results were very encouraging with some of the highest volume trading days coming within weeks of the launch.

The new Stanley Gibbons storefront has had over 3.2 millon pageviews from 503,000 sessions since launch in September, generating revenues of over £660,000.


What We Did

Took over an existing scratch build web site, rebuilt entirely in the Magento platform and developed a NetSuite integration.

Developed very complex product ordering, filtering and search functions specific to the Philatelic market for Great British, Commonwealth and rest of world stamps.

Implemented a full SEO plan to maximise search engine awareness, created a specialist feed for Google Product Listing Ads (PLA’s) and configured full ecommerce and event tracking within Google Analytics.

Developed full integration with the Bronto email automation channel to enable deal configuration and recency, frequency, monetary and lifetime value analysis of clients.

Drove operational savings in the region of £250K p.a on hosting and support services. Delivered on budget, on time.
